Celebrating IAAD'21
STRENGTH BEYOND ALL ODDS
Being made to shine as lights that we are has brought us to the point where we talk about how strong we are and have become beyond all odds. Last year’s international albinism awareness day and other years as far back as 3 years ago has been major enlightenments on myths and truths of albinism general celebrations of albinos, also the reassurance of people living with albinism that we are all made to shine, through online posts on our social media platforms and also online seminars. We’ve been able to reach quite a population of people enlightening them and sensitizing them on what albinism is. Helped quite a number of people living with albinism see their lives as better beyond the discrimination the society has to offer. This bulletin is to make obvious the impression some people had of albinism before they got enlightened, it’s a gift to every albino out there to see what people actually see them as rather than their assumptions, still in celebration of the international albinism awareness day 2021. This is to make clear that STRENGTH ISN’T IN THE MUSCLE, BUT IN THE ACT.

When I first met an albino, I felt indifferent - wasn’t discriminative but wasn’t just sure if I wanted any in my space, as a friend, or family. Then I met Matilda, she gave me the time and space to learn from her. She’s pretty and is my favorite albino till date, beautiful in and out - personality and character, I learned to love albinism when I loved her completely. I’m forever grateful for that......Download Our E-Magazine to access the other part of her impression about Albinim.

I've met several persons with albinism so, I'll give my impression on meeting each of them. I had an ex in primary school, who looked so much like an albino. He was so close to becoming an albino. He was obviously stubborn and so was flogged severally by the teacher. I noticed something about him, his skin responded badly to the whips than the melanin toned skin. His injuries bled more. I felt pity each time I saw him in that state....... Download Our E-Magazine to access the other part of her impression about Albinim.
